Dear Families,
As we begin our fall season, I wanted to thank our parents, staff, and students for the hardwork and effort displayed throughout the district each and every day. I know that this year, just like last year, continues to have its challenges. However, by working together, we have been able to face many of those challenges while also ensuring our students receive the best educational experience possible.
As Superintendent, I did want to share some concerns that I have about what is happening in some of our schools. In general, our children display excellent behaviors. However, we have seen an unusual trend in vandalism and other negative behaviors that appears to be spurred on by posts and videos that students see on TikTok and other social media sites. This has caused us to have to spend additional money on replacing items, and additional staff time fixing items that students are improperly using and, in some cases, breaking. You may have already received communications from your child’s building principal about this. However, since this does appear to be a more widespread concern, I felt it necessary to share my concerns with our families. Please help us by talking to your children about the ramifications and consequences of replicating “the pranks” that they see on TikTok or other social media sites at school and the importance of taking pride in our schools.
Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeannie Stachowiak
Superintendent
